Colonel Escamilla and his men enter the prison – a guard reported seeing a rifle scope, and he's not leaving until he finds the rifle. It works – but the guard suddenly takes aim at Michael's cell and sprays the window with bullets. He uses it to finish his jamming device. Michael steals the microwave of a particularly tough inmate.
T-Bag steps up and claims he gave the money to her and planned to replace it by the end of the day. The General is mollified.Lechero returns to his cell – to find that Mary tried to steal $30 from his unguarded cashbox. He shows the bird book as proof that he's a birdwatcher. Whistler steps up and says the scope is actually his, and he wasn't watching the guard, he was watching birds. The guard, Hurtado, demands to know why Michael was watching him. He asks Mahone to find him a black felt-tipped pen. Michael visits a trembling Mahone who is going through drug withdrawal, to enlist him in his escape plan. A flashback of Lincoln's shows that Sara's severed head was in the box.The power goes out in the prison. Michael asks Lincoln to make friends with the prison gravedigger. Michael is unfazed.Outside in the yard, Michael wins McGrady's cross necklace in a quick bet, but McGrady demands to know why he wants it.Lincoln, still in shock over the bloody box, visits Michael. But Mahone doesn't care – he just wants to get out.As Michael starts to hatch an escape scheme, Whistler warns him that if he doesn't give up the book, he'll tell the Company that Linc has it.
When Sucre refuses to help, Linc enlists Sofia as a translator so he can speak with the prison gravedigger. Whistler asks her to dig into the Scofield brothers' pasts.Linc meets with Susan, who demands Linc give her the real book, which he does. Mahone begins to hallucinate that Haywire is there, warning him against trusting Michael.Sofia visits Whistler and insists on helping with the plan.
Bellick tells Lechero Michael's planning an escape, and that he saw Michael bury something in a junction box in No Man's Land. On the dig, Michael won't include Bellick in his plans. Bellick horns in, offering to help dig, and letting Michael know he overheard his conversations with Mahone. He makes a deal with Lechero to safely get into No Man's Land to repair the electricity in exchange for a specific corner cell. Michael says the electricity can only be repaired from No Man's Land, the area between the inner and outer gates of the prison, where any escaping prisoner is shot dead by tower guards. Lechero tells Michael that if his cell phone dies, he can't get any food into Sona and they'll all die.
In the main power room, a fusebox has been jammed McGrady's cross, which is what has really been keeping the electricity off. Michael states he has to go to the breaker box to turn the power back on, and Lechero insists on going with him. Michael takes him to the junction box and shows that it is duct tape on frayed wires buried under dirt.
Sucre is clearly shocked when he hears this, and he gets up and paces about the hotel room nervously.Mahone brings Michael a felt tip pen. Sofia presses the issue, and the already stressed Linc blurts out that The Company killed Sara and put her head in a box, and that they have his son. Sofia insists on coming along however, Linc refuses to let her. T-Bag takes Nieves' place in Lechero's organization.Linc arranges to meet Susan and get $15,000 from her. Lechero has suspected Nieves of thievery in the past. Lechero, though suspicious, is satisfied for now.T-Bag kills Nieves, Lechero's man for smuggling drugs and money into the prison, and makes it look like an overdose.
T-Bag brings Mahone some drugs, and Mahone takes them to steady his nerves. He asks for more money and Susan shoots him dead, in fear that he was just trying to get as much money as possible before tipping off the cops.The hallucination of Haywire begins to urge Mahone to kill Michael. Michael says they'll escape by making the fence as deadly as possible.Susan and Linc meet with the gravedigger with the $15,000 to bribe him. Now the electric fence, which hadn't been working in the first place, is back online.

Full of new confidence and self-control, Mahone says he'll kill Michael if he's not included in the escape attempt.Bellick is invited to watch soccer with Luchero and his group. Mahone questions Michael as to why he would leave the pen in his old cell.
